$35,000 for Rescue Helicopter

Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust benefits from the generosity and big hearts of the Lawrence community once again.

STARS IN YOUR EYES: Was the event held two years ago that raised $30,000 for the Trust. It was such a resounding success that it was held again this year with $35,000 raised.

Outside of corporate contributions, this is the biggest single fundraising event for the helicopter trust.

Gabriel's Gully Goldrush 150th updates

Organisers planning the Gabriel’s Gully Goldrush 150th celebration in Lawrence next March are calling for submissions of stories and artefacts from the Goldrush to form a special exhibition over the four-day event.

They are particularly interested to hear from descendants and relations of the early goldminers and prospectors, or anyone with any information on the Tuapeka Goldfields area. Historical records and artefacts will be displayed at The Goldrush Heritage Centre. The programme also includes Pioneer Stories – an opportunity for people to retell Goldrush stories passed down from their ancestors.

Lawrence Roxburgh rail cycle trail will become reality

The Government has awarded funding for a cycle trail starting in Lawrence and ending in Alexandra. This is an exciting new development and allows cyclists to enjoy the landscape along the Clutha River and then connect with the rail trail from Clyde to Middlemarch. Tuapeka Vintage Museum expands

Today, 26 July 2009, was the official opening of the new extension of the Tuapeka Vintage Museum. An enthousiastic crowd gathered on a beautiful sunny sunday afternoon. This museum is a gem, just of the Main Street at the entrance to Gabriels Gully.
